Inharmonious

We’re both musicians in this world of silence.
We’re both artists in this world of black.
We’re both humans in this world of beasts.

It would seem we match perfectly;
like a match to a fire, like a wave to an ocean,  like a ray to a sun, like a note to a harmony.

Well then, why can’t we harmonize?
We see notes as they fly by,
Yet why can’t we play them right?
Why can’t we play them right?
Why can’t we play them right?
Why?

We never play the same song.

  2. Hey so I really like this piece. The over all metaphor of the relationship and song is beautiful and interesting. The last line is just a little weird because I think there's a tense shift. I would just leave it as "we never play the same song." But overall it's a wonderful piece.

    1. Thank you so much. And yeah I was quote ambivalent about how to end it. It's still technically unfinished because of that, but that's a good idea I will just change it to that for now.

  3. Hello Maddie, I'm coming over for a first time visit. I see you scribe from the other side of darkness as well. You became a friend when you clicked my button on my Poetry In Motion blog. I scribe from my soul and sometimes a lot of the bad and ugly come to the surface from my past. However I seek the light and I enjoy life. I relate to this piece you've written here, I often wondered why my life couldn't stay in harmony. I became out of sync and tune with relationships I had to often, thus I am a loner today. If only two people could stay in harmony forever it would be grand music to both their souls. Now I play alone.

  5. I like the words and images you've chosen. The first stanza is really intriguing. You have a very individual voice. I hope you keep writing!
